Last Night

The trip is winding down...
I see thousands of college aged people in a park on Saturday afternoon. Some have pop bands. Some wear cute masks of animal heads. I don't know why.

I see Nagoya Castle on Sunday, along with Golden Dolphins, which are on display to touch. They go to Expo 2005 next, then they go on top of the castle. There is a male and a female, and this is their third iteration over the centuries. Cost: 400 million yen.

My roommates in the hostel are a death metal fan from Germany named Luke, an engineering student from North Carolina named Alan, and an artist from Austria named Claus. Claus is drawing apple trees for a museum display. Luke and Alan are studying Japanese for college credit. It is nice to have conversations again, after about a week of not.

My schedule once I return to California is filling up. I have things to do Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I reserve a hostel room in San Francisco for three nights.

So, it's the countdown; the final hours.

Today, I revisit Expo 2005 and see displays on high speed trains that utilize superconductivity, and see Germany`s booth, which was the best overall-- a little roller coaster and lots of pieces that fit the Expo`s theme of "nature`s wisdom".

I go back to the Africa booths and am told that the time to visit is summer, because Europeans take all of the hotel rooms in the winter.

Tonight, I am in a capsule. Unlike with the hostel, I can take a shower tomorrow morning prior to my long flight. I have 980 yen in my pocket, and 850 yen will get me to the airport. So, I am all set to go.

End of transmission.
