Policy Absent Science

"Abstinence based sex education" has become the norm, despite there never being any scientific evidence that it is effective at reducing unintended pregnancy. (The data says that boys who receive this "education" are actually more likely to cause a pregnancy than those who are not taught to abstain.) In fact, no type of education has been demonstrated to reduce sexual behavior.

Now that the federal government has spent over $1 billion dollars promoting "abstinence based sex education," it appears that further results are in: Teen Birth Rates Rise for First Time in 15 Years.
