Amazon.com Customer Service Story

The Issue
Have you e-mailed Amazon.com lately? Answer: no. There are no company e-mails available. Amazon.com is now completely run by robots. And, the robots are screwing up.

My issue? I ordered a memory card and received the following confirmation details from a robotic (no reply) e-mail address:

Order #: 105-7458539-655xxxx
Shipping Method:
Shipping Preference: Group my items into as few shipments as possible
Subtotal of Items: $49.99
Shipping & Handling: $4.99
------
Total for this Order: $54.98

Delivery estimate: April 28, 2009 - May 13, 2009

So, what is the status of this order? I can click on the order number, and this takes me to the Amazon site. However, the Amazon website does not acknowledge that the order was ever placed.

Yes, I like my Kindle. No, I would not recommend Amazon stock at this time, as they have abrogated customer service.

The Resolution
Update 5/20/2009: Amazon re-installed their e-mail address. Amazon did not honor the third party order, which was cancelled by the third party vendor. They say they are sorry, that they try to keep this sort of thing to a minimum, and they will refund the two day shipping price if I wish to order from another vendor. (It was a long response.) My new price would be $64.63. So, to summarize, Amazon cancelled my order without notifying me, but will at least now answer questions from customers via e-mail.

Go ahead and order from Amazon.com if you like. Do not count on them to actually fill your order.
