Fantasy Baseball-- Week 16 (All-Star Break)

Teams have moved up in the standings as we approach the All Star break.

Call up, Anthony Rizzo led the Yakking Muggers, who mortgaged the future with a trade of Matt Moore ($3) for Cole Hamels ($28) and $22.  With Ryan Howard now active and with Trevor Bauer now contributing, the second half looks promising.  This team leads the league in points/game by hitters.  The team actually also leads two of the teams ahead in the standings in points/innings pitched.  So, during the second half, assuming players perform as they have, Yakking Muggers will pass some teams.  First place is a possibility worth pursuing.

Asakusabashi Darfish have benefited from the strong performance of OF waiver wire acquisitions-- Allen Craig, Josh Reddick and Colby Rasmus, to name three.  3B/OF Todd Frazier could count as a fourth.  Despite this, the team is poor in RBIs and Rs.  I keep thinking that these new power hitter adds will correct this.  Last week, the team advanced in BA and SB.  Pitching has been poor as reflected in ERA and WHIP.  Performance is much poorer than talent level.  I still expect at least some turn-around.  Jeff Samardzija was dropped last week because I thought he was out of gas.  (Samardzija was the best pitcher last week for the Yahoo teams.)  Matt Kemp and Emilio Bonafacio return from the DL.  Giancarlo Stanton and Dee Gordon go to the DL.

Moore Ons are charmed, as Mike Trout, Kevin Youkilis and Brian McCann were top ten players last week.  League SB points are there for the taking, which makes Mike Trout the key player.  I turned down a trade offer of CC Sabathia for Trout.  League pitching win points and K points (and ERA points) are also out there.  Hamels and Bauer are newer additions that can help.  It is remarkable to me that this team leads in HR.  Cano and his 20 HR are a big deal.  The addition of Berkman may compensate for the trade of Bruce for Hamels.

Adho Muhka Svanasana is led by Miguel Cabrera, Pablo Sandoval, Chris Sale and Madison Bumgarner.  It is hard to knock this first place team.  Win points and K points are out there.  I generally choose not to chase batting average as luck seems to primary.
