Week 14

Asahi tanked yesterday, losing 7 points and 14 points for the week. Good performances repair bad ones. Adho Muhka tanked yesterday too, but did not lose any points. So while, Asahi counts on getting some points back, Adho Muhka has a tougher slog.  Yakking Muggers finally have Hanley and Aaron Hill, and that has been a good thing, with hitting stats looking a touch better.

Justin Verlander has been the best Asahi pitcher since being traded for, which helps soften the blow given that Allen Craig, who was traded, suddenly found his homerun stroke in addition to the big counting numbers. In week 13 (no summary since I was busy cleaning out a garage) Asahi was last place in batting average at .239. This got even worse in week 14, last place and .200. Week 14 also had worst ERA at 5.26, worst WHIP at 1.52 and worst power with 4 HR. Ah, two weeks ago, when Asahi was nearly best at all of these categories! New acquisitions are Eric Young, who I am hoping will get 2B eligibility, two rehabbing aces, Jake Peavy and Brandon Beachy; healed slugger, Logan Morrison; and speedy base stealer, Rajai Davis. Michael Bourn, Brett Garner plus Davis/Young should pull Asahi out of the SB basement. Rafael Betancourt is the only true closer now with O. Perez, V. Pestano and T. Rosenthal all doing set up gigs, so it may hard to advance in saves. O. Perez and Pestano never took hold as closers.
