Exiting Northern Laos
Yesterday:
Green mountains stick out of the ground like baseball gloves
Cross the Mekong by foot and by bridge to visit caves
Caves close at 4:30, visit a Buddah in a cave anyway
Trek through rice fields, gardens and jungle
Look at the constellations of a little further south
Eat homemade ice cream made by a man from Norway
Watch geickos eats bugs
Stop by the carnival for kids
Sleep in a $4 per night guest house (hot water plus air conditioner).
Meet Yarma from Israel, who wants to visit India. She trekked with me.
Meet Lauren from Atlanta, an English teacher of non-comformist Japanese high school students. (These students smoke, listen to hip hop, don't study, and some of the girls turn tricks). Lauren survived the tsunami on a boat, and is returning to Tokyo today since Spring Break is ending. She rode the minibus with me.
The minibus dropped me off by the wrong bus station. I am angry about this, until I discover that there is a second bus station. (I needed to say "Express Bus Station.") It doesn't matter, since it turns out that the bus to Viet Nam leaves in seven hours. I eat noodles and wander and wander, in the middle of the day, when there are no shadows. I find an internet cafe, where 88 F is cool, because outside is hot.
