The Voice of the Big Head

Ted Koppel's authoritative voice appeared with fellow ABC alum Mark Halperin and other Washington insiders on the roundtable of "This Week with George Stephanopoulos": Huffington Post.
The authoritative voice claimed that the United States had to stay in the Middle East indefinitely or else gas prices would go much higher than the current $4 per gallon.
But who would argue that one reason for the increase in the price of oil in the United States is that dollars have devalued compared to the rest of the world due to the approximately $1 trillion of borrowed money spent in Iraq?
It is debatable that the United States is increasing stability in the Middle East, as certainly Colin Powell's "Pottery Barn" analogy of "you break it, you buy it" has come to fruition during the past five years. If the Middle East and its oil supply is more unstable, it may well be more because of our policy than despite our policy.
If anyone ever suggested that the United States go to Iraq to keep the price of gasoline low, that would seem to be proven a failed rationale.
But, how does one argue with Kent Brockman?
