Opening Day Rookies
How I love to add the high upside rookie to my team!
Brandon Belt made the opening day roster for the Giants. With Brian Wilson on the DL there is a roster spot for him versus fellow lefty Clayton Kershaw today. He batted .352 last year in the minors, with 112 rbis. There is no limit to how good he might be.
Michael Pineda is the fifth starter for Seattle. At 6-5, 250+, he must be a dominating presence. 154 K/139 IP in the minors last year and a 97 mph fastball tends to translate to the majors, especially as he as exhibited good strike zone control. This guy has the chance to perhaps dominate from the outset like Lincecum and Gallardo did as rookies. Dropped: Fernando Rodney (as other closers are available).
Also dropped: Frank Francisco (DL), replaced by temporary closer Brian Fuentes.
