Fantasy Baseball-- Week 5
Ballywood, the Yahoo team lost 3 points to 83. Asakusabashi, the CBS team, was stable at 84.5. Both teams are in second place. It is odd how closely the two teams have tracked as Asakusabashi has 23 players not on Ballywood. Common players and their results for the week are: Brandon Phillips(2hr,5r,7rbi,0sb,.375), Jason Heyward (2,4,3,0,.259), F. Liriano (3ip, 7er,10br, 4k), Jed Lowrie (4/21, 1r) and Alexi Ogando (6ip,2er,7br,7k).
The success of Asakusabashi this week comes from a full lineup with no injuries. Phillips ranked 42 and Ramos ranked 100 for the week. Fuentes, Perez and Uehara all contributed wins in relief; important since Nolasco had the only win by a starter. The 46 Ks, led by Garcia (12) and Nolasco (9) helped the Fishiokas in a category where they trail.

Buchholz, de la Rosa, Jackson (risky?) and Ogando line up as having 2-start weeks. Nolasco (v. Nats) gets the one start appearance as Liriano has been too shaky to trust thus far. Tampa Bay seems hot, otherwise Morrow would have a one start week. The add order for the week was Logan Morrison, Justin Smoak, Fernando Salas and Hung-Chi Kuo. The fourth choice, Kuo, ended up as the add. (Salas is the possible Cardinal closer.) Uehara was dropped. Based on Kuo's four runs allowed Sunday night, and on the lack of good options at SP, Asakusabashi turned around and dropped Kuo for Lidge who returns June or July.
Morrison was dropped at first news that his leg was in a cast, even though he was playing like an all-star, and seems quite likeable per his Twitter feed. Nonetheless, Derrek Lee, in the middle of the Orioles lineup, is the safer choice. Matthew Pouliot does not even have Morrison ranked in the top 250 at this point. Moreland, two catchers (Arencibia, W. Ramos) and a temporary closer (B. Fuentes) are also not ranked, though the rest of team is ranked. A-Rod (9), Kemp (13), A-Gon (15) and Reyes (22) are top-ranked players looking forward.
The entire Yahoo team is ranked. A first? Maybe not, but it is uncommon. Teixeira (20), Howard (28) and Phillips (40) lead the rankings. Bumgarner was added and Madson was dropped. Figgins was added for Cuddyer, though Lowrie is one start (or three appearances) from 3B eligibility. Figgins is dropped when that happens, opening up a slot to add back a closer. Lind (4,7,10,0,.429) Andrus (0,7,1,4,.333), Howard (3,4,9,0,.292), Wilson (3 saves), and Pineda (W, 9K, 2 er, 7br, 6 ip) were top weekly performers in addition to Phillips, though lefty-lefty benchings cost Ballywood the best day from both Lind and Andrus.
