Fantasy Baseball-- Week 9

Corey Hart hit 3 HR is one game. Carlos Quentin, ditto, the next day. Each had fine weeks that day. So, did both of the fantasy teams. After two weeks in second place, Ballywood returns to first place with 88 points (plus 5.5 points). Asakusabashi advanced to 89 points (plus 1.5 points) and remains in second place.

Jamie Garcia gave up 11 earned runs in 3 1/3 ip. Hiroki Kuroda gave up 5 er in 5 1/3. Both games were on Saturday. Fortunately, neither were two start pitchers and both were benched. Francisco Liriano was scratched due to back issues, so no stats for him though he was on the weekly roster. Roy Halladay (3.87, 6 Ks, 1.71) was merely adequate but becomes the lone two starter next week. Alexi Ogando (3.00 ERA, 10Ks, 1.07 WHIP, 1 W) mixed a great start-- a higher rated performance than Corey Hart's 3HR-- with a poor start and will start once. Nolasco (6.08, 10, 1.95) in two starts is benched this week. Morrow, Mike Minor (new) and Jamie Garcia will fill out the rotation.

Other adds are Franklin Gutierrez and minor league prospect Brett Lawrie. Lawrie should be a five category performer for the high scoring Blue Jays. Jason Heyward remains on the DL. Brian Fuentes seems like an obvious drop with Andrew Bailey active, however, Fuentes has saves the last two games.

Joses Reyes (0.5185, 0 hr, 8 r, 2 rbi, 2 sb) was huge though he mostly hit triples. Corey Hart (0.4000, 4, 5, 9, 1) missed days with the flu but had the big day. Curtis Granderson (0.4167, 0, 10, 3, 3) had a big week without homeruns. Mitch Moreland (0.4444, 1, 2, 3,0) seems to be Mr.Clutch-- why the sac bunt attempt? Matt Kemp (0.2857, 2, 4, 3, 1) sprayed all the categories. New guy, Andres Torres stole two bases. Twelve total stolen bases was the reason fantasy points for the week increased.

Week 8 0.3058 10hr 48r 47rbi 12sb 4.050 31k 2w 5s 1.4786
0.2777(1) 104(1) 371(2) 359(2) 62(3) 3.569(7) 339(9) 29(4) 44(1) 1.3460(10)

Ballywood has strong performances by Quentin, Tiexiera, Bourn and Napoli. Bedard picked up a solid win. Hudson and Melancon also got a win.
