Fantasy Baseball Week 22... A Big Day

Yesterday, Tuesday, was a big day for Asakusabashi. Four starting pitchers went. The team had a chance to make progress, or to not. As it turns out, progress was made. The team trailed second place by 5 points on Monday morning, but now is in second place, 4 points ahead of third.

Here is what happened on Monday and Tuesday to cause the nine point swing:

Jose Reyes, in his second game back from leg issues stole a base. Monday, Brent Lawrie stole two bases and J.P. Arencibia even had an SB. Tuesday, Lawrie gets on track with a three run homer. Javier Vazquez and Roy Halladay are pitching. Sixth inning, Hunter Pence hits a homerun. Roy Halladay hits a three run single. Phillies are up 6-0. Halladay has allowed 2H and 2BB, 0ER, 9K. Lidge takes over in the eighth. Halladay is now 16-5.

Seventh inning, Queens, NY, the Marlins piece together five runs. Vazquez leaves after seven, 108 pitches, 3H, 1 BB, 0ER, 6K. Stanton adds a HR in the ninth to complete the "slam and legs". Both Halladay and Vazquez have won. (Their performance ranks 1,2 in CBS for the day.)

CC Sabathia is at Fenway Park. He is struggling, but piling up Ks. Sabathia goes 128 pitches in six innings, allowing 10 hits, 2 walks, but just 2 runs. Wade, Logan, Soriano and Rivera allow another 3 hits and 2 walks. The Yankees hold on 5-2. Sabathia wins.

The Rangers are up 2-0. Neftali Feliz allows a double and a walk in the ninth, but no further damage from the Rays. Rangers win. Feliz gets the save.

Kuroda is off to an excellent start. A grand slam in the second inning makes it 8-0 Dodgers. It is a shutout until the sixth inning, when a three run homer and solo homerun cut the lead in half. Kuroda allows 7 hits, 2 walks, 4 runs, and adds 3 Ks. Guerrier, Jansen and Guerra finish the game. Kuroda gets the fourth win for Asakusabashi on the night. Two points each are advanced in wins and in strikeouts. Another point was made Monday in SB. WHIP, ERA, AVG and RBI are other categories in play yesterday and over the next days. Yes, the categories are close.
