Fantasy Baseball-- Week 25
I went to Oakland and watched the A's play twice and the Giants once. Ballywood did well, advancing to 95.5 points and first place. Asakusabashi slipped further and is now in fourth place at 87 points. There is a solid race for third. Second place is five and one-half points away and looking more distant. Asakusabashi is unlikely to lose further points. But, points that are attainable have yet to be attained.
Week 23 pitching was bad. Javier Vazquez (14K, 0.69 ERA, 0.85 WHIP) with two wins and Francisco Cordero with two saves were very good, but they carried the whole team. No other pitcher had a win or save. Matt Cain (7K, 2.57, 1.00) was good, but the Giants do not score runs for him, only for relievers. Two-starters Harang and Sabathia were bad in Week 24, though R. A. Dickey (11K, 1.84, 1.16) did well in his non-decisions. One-start pitchers, Halladay (7K, 0.00, 0.78) and Cain (9K, 3.18, 1.41) picked up the only wins. One a bright note, Motte, Feliz, Perez and Cordero combined for 7 saves.

Four weeks ago:
5 wins=3 places. 11 saves = 3 places. 0.025 WHIP= 3 places. 28K=3 places. 0.02 ERA= 2 places or 0.17ERA= 4 places.
Three weeks ago:
2 wins=2places, 7 wins=4 places. 8 saves=3 places. 28K= 3 points. 11 saves= 4 places. 0.030 WHIP=3 places. 0.16 ERA = 3 places.
Two weeks ago Week:
1 win=1 place, 2 wins = 1 1/2, 5 wins = 2 1/2, 6 wins = 3, 7 wins = 3 1/2; 8 saves = 4 places; 0.008 =1 place ERA; 0.0096 = 2 places WHIP
Into the final period:
Ks 22/12 for one point decline or advance
ERA .036= 2 points
WHIP 0.0147= 2 points
W 3= 2points
Saves: 6= 3 points
So, Asakusabashi will try for saves and hope competitor's ERA and WHIP decline. Five closers are started, including Farnsworth who hopefully returns strong into the pennant race from his injury. Also, Halladay, Vazquez, Sabathia and Garcia will go two-starts over the next week and one-half. They seem least at risk to lose an end of season start.

A point in RBIs was lost and looks gone for good. Paul Goldschmit and Jesus Guzman were added for homeruns, where Asakusabashi needs to hold. The most likely point in play is batting average. I normally would not add a San Diego hitter, but he plays a series in Coors, and looked good batting clean-up against the Giants. Also, I like that Goldschmidt has nine home games in Arizona. I no longer view Moreland as a keeper. Mitch Moreland's 2011 stats reflect more of a James Loney type, without the stolen bases, so he is dropped.
For Ballywood, WHIP is the category most in play. A point in WHIP could be lost to second place, so it is important to not give up hits. Possibly, there might be a point available in saves.
