2012 Keepers
Assuming no trades, here are the players Asakusabashi keeps for 2012.
1) Matt Kemp, OF ($36)... with nearly a triple crown, the most valuable player in the NL becomes a 40/40 with two HR today
2) Mike Stanton, OF (F1, $21)... 34HR, Ozzie's new clean up hitter will be age 22 next year.
3) Dee Gordon, SS ($6)... 50 SB next year seems like a low guess.
4) Brett Lawrie, 2B or 3B ($6)... a 30/30 possibility except that he keeps breaking his fingers
5) Matt Moore ($6)... the top minor league pitcher and possibly the Ray's best in 2012
6) Jason Motte ($6)... the new closer for Saint Louis
7) Kyle Farnsworth ($9)... his stretch performance has been clutch; if Asakusabashi hangs on for second place, a new fish will be named after him. Eno Sarris says he is not a keeper, though.
Also, at $33 or $28, F1, Jose Reyes might be a keeper. Though he may have overachieved in 2011 (BABIP= .353 in 2011 vs. .314 career), a more run friendly park will add to his value.
